Bay Area Whomps LA in Supercross |
Story and Photos by Rob Stokstad. That's right, San Francisco and the Bay Area beat Anaheim and the LA Basin by a whopping 10,000 fans. In round numbers, paid attendance for Round 3 at Anaheim-II on January 23 was 32,000 while at AT&T park on the 30th, 42,000 fans showed up to party and watch great racing under a rain-free sky. They got what they came for - fireworks, ladies in leather tossing T-shirts, the Jaegermeister stunt riders and, I almost forgot to mention, Supercross high drama. |

Story By Gabe Ets-Hokin Last month, a friendly source from deep in the bowels of a Ducati dealer leaked to me that Ducati would introduce a new middleweight Monster based on the Hypermotard 796's motor and the Monster 1100's chassis and single-sided swingarm, priced under $10,000. Yamaha2009 FJR1300AE |
They talk about the immediacy of the Internet, but sometimes good ol’ City Bike has that system of tubes beat. For instance: just last Thursday (if you’re reading this the week of Novemebr 16th), I was riding home on a Yamaha FJR1300AE, and here you are reading an actual print story about it. You tsee, I thought it’d be a good idea to drop off a scooter I reviews for another publication and then ride home on an FJR1300AE, ostentiably because Dirck wrote about the Connie and Bob Stokstad did his story on the BMW GT, and I thought it’d be good to review not one but three sport-tourers in a regional moto-mag, but also because sometimes it’s good to be a geeky little moto-journalist and ask for a $16,290 bike to ride around for a month.

2010 Kawasaki Concours 14 |
By Dirck Edge, www.motorcycledaily.com Photo: Adam Campbell To say that I was impressed by the 2008 Kawasaki Concours 14 would be a gross understatement. That bike represented a ground-up redesign of the original Concours – essentially unchanged for a couple of decades. Despite being long-in-the-tooth, the original Concours had quite a loyal following, some of whom were aghast at the dramatic changes to the character and performance of their beloved sport tourer. |
