I actually bought me a 2009 KLX250S, Kawasaki’s new dual-sport bike. For $4999, you get a lot; water-pumping four-valve motor, six-speed tranny, adjustable suspension, and a general orientation towards dirt riding that a lot of dual-sports lack. I’ve been buzzing around town a lot on it, but I wanted to take it up to the mountains to get on some single track. |

On August 25th, at midnight I boarded a Mexicana red eye flight out of SFO that would have me landing in Guadalajara at dawn. From there I would hail a taxi for Tlaquepaque (ti-lackey-paki) where my old GS had been stored, and then once composed and rested, would set out for my next destination—the port of Vera Cruz, on the Gulf of Mexico. |
