AFM Round 5 at Thunderhill By Mike Solis At Round 5 of the 2009 AFM Formula Pacific championship, it was Lenny Hale out in front early in the Kal Gard Formula Pacific race, the premiere class of AFM racing. As the green flag dropped, Hale grabbed a spectacular holeshot as he launched his 600cc Yamaha past the 1000cc rockets of Cory Call, James Randolph, and the rest of the regular contenders. Despite his phenomenal start, Hale’s time at the front was short lived, coming to an end just moments later with a lowside in Turn 2. |

AFM Round 4 at Thunderhill By Mike Solis Cory Call had another stellar weekend at Thunderhill Raceway Park, taking his third Kal Gard Formula Pacific win of the season on his Dunlop-shod, MDK Motorsports Suzuki. With Chris Siglin crashing out early and David Stanton dropping out with a mechanical failure, the race boiled down to a contest between Call and James Randolph, with Randolph finishing less than a second back on his Pirelli-shod, Dan Kyle Suzuki. Michael Earnest scored his best Formula Pacific finish of the year, crossing the line in third on his EDR performance Honda. |

AFM Round 3 at Infineon Raceway By Mike Solis After a close second-place finish to Chris Siglin in April, Cory Call bounced back with one of his best weekends to date May 24 at Infineon Raceway, taking the win on his Dunlop-shod MDK Motorsports Suzuki in the Kal Gard Formula Pacific race. James Randolph finished second on his Pirelli-shod Suzuki, with David Stanton making his way past Siglin late in the race to finish third on his Dunlop-shod Mach 1 Yamaha. Siglin ran well early, but a crash earlier in the day coupled with a near highside in the second turn of the race seemed to take some of the wind from his sails, relegating him to fourth place. |

In the Kal Gard Formula Pacific race at Infineon Raceway, it looked as though Cory Call was going to run and hide from the field on his MDK Suzuki, opening a big gap over Chris Siglin and the rest of the pack in the opening laps. As the race went on, Siglin was able to close the gap on his Roseville Cycle tuned GSX-R1000, taking the position from Call heading into the last turn on the last lap before going on to take the win. Call held on for a strong second place finish, while Bobby Fong slipped past James Randolph on the last lap to finish third - an excellent finish despite his 5th row grid position at the start. |

AFM Round 5 By Mike Solis After starting the day with a memorial lap for Harold Kaye – a veteran turn worker who recently passed away – David Stanton continued his quest to defend his number one plate, taking his second straight Kal Gard Formula Pacific win at Infineon Raceway on his Dunlop-shod Mach 1 Motorsports Yamaha. Riding a Pirelli-shod Dan Kyle Suzuki, James Randolph challenged Stanton for the win with a move up the hill into Turn 7 early in the race, but Stanton was able to strike right back, countering with a bold move on the brakes into Turn 9 just a few moments later. Randolph looked for another opportunity to strike, but was forced to make up some ground after a big slide in Turn 3. |
